March 8, 2022 - 鶹ý Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Matt Cecil, has been selected to participate in the Student Success Institute for Provosts, a year-long leadership program tailored to the needs of experienced provosts.
Dr. Cecil is among only 22 provosts and chief academic officers from across the United States selected to the program. The Student Success Institute for Provosts began in September 2020.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to network and share ideas with provosts from around the country who are working on these same student success issues,” Dr. Cecil said. “The challenges we all face are similar and really the solutions boil down to the same thing. We must know our students better to be able to support their success with the right kinds of programs and interventions."
As a participant in the Student Success Institute, Dr. Cecil will receive the latest expertise and information in areas of student success, leadership, data and assessment, teaching and learning, and equity.
The seven-month, hybrid program will allow Dr. Cecil to network with fellow industry peers and leaders in the field of student success. He will also learn from the best experts and will learn critical practices that can affect change on the NKU campus.
Dr. Cecil came to 鶹ý as provost and vice president for academic affairs in July 2021. He previously served as provost at Minnesota State – Mankato. Since arriving at NKU, Dr. Cecil has aided the university in adapting to change amid the COVID-19 pandemic, leading the COVID-19 preparedness team and giving weekly COVID-19 updates to the campus community.
“We are delighted to welcome the second cohort of provosts to this highly engaging program,” Terry Brown, AASCU’s vice president of academic innovation and transformation, said. “The institute offers not only access to the most promising practices and approaches to student success but also a strong, supportive community of peers who are on a leadership journey together.”
