Dr. Casey Kuhajda
Leanne Wood

Casey Kuhajda joined the Â鶹´«Ã½ Honors College in August 2022, after graduating with his Ph.D. from Miami University. His dissertation was entitled, "Beyond the Flood: Expanding the Horizons of 21st Century Climate Fiction." His research is primarily centered around the intersection of environmentalism and public health. Casey graduated from John Carroll University in 2013 with a B.A. in literature and minors in history and philosophy. In 2017, he received his M.A. in literature (certificate in composition) from the University of Akron. In 2022, he completed his Ph.D. at Miami.

Â鶹´«Ã½, Casey is the Assistant Director of Honors First Year Experience. He teaches several sections of HNR 101 and 102 to the pre-med, pre-health, film & media, and technology learning communities. Each section of HNR101 is designed to introduce students to the Honors College, as well as build the fundamental reading, writing, and communication skills students will need throughout the rest of their college experience. For example, in HNR101 "What Makes us Human?" students explore questions of the human body and medical ethics, as well as begin to develop materials that will help them to apply to medical school. In his spare time, you might see Casey taking in a baseball game at Great American Ballpark (though his favorite team is the Guardians not Reds) or jogging around greater Cincinnati in preparation for next year's Flying Pig Marathon. If you ever see him around campus, stop him and say "Hi!"
