Three NKU undergraduate researchers earned top honors at the 2024 annual meeting of the Entomological Society of America in Phoenix.

• Trey Zinsmeister won first place for the “Biodiversity, Ecology, and Behavior” poster category

• Ethan Waddle won first place for the “Forensic, Medical, & Veterinary Entomology and Vector Biology & Management” poster category

• Abilene Morgan won a travel award for “Medical, Urban, and Veterinary Entomology”

All three students are mentored by Associate Professor Allison Parker. Dr. Parker is an eco-epidemiologist, which means she studies the intersection between ecology and disease. Her research focuses on mosquitoes, ticks and the diseases they transmit in human-dominated landscapes.
