Attention High School Choir Directors:
NKU School of the Arts will be hosting the 2023 Tri-State Honor Choir Event this fall. We look forward to welcoming you and your students to the NKU campus!
- Who: High school students in grades 9-12, currently attending a high school or homeschooled in Kentucky, Ohio, or Indiana — nominated by you!
- What: In a 2-day festival, we will rehearse and perform challenging, yet accessible repertoire.
- Why: It is always a great experience for students to meet others who enjoy similar interests! By bringing together students from various schools, we create opportunities for musical collaboration that may not be available in individual programs.
- When:
- Friday, Nov. 10, 1-5:30 p.m. (check in will begin at 12:30 p.m.)
- Saturday, Nov. 11, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
- Concert begins at 3 p.m.
- How: Nominate your students by Wednesday, Oct. 11. The fee per student will be $35 which will include music, registration, and a t-shirt! Please make checks payable to SOTA and write "Honor Choir" in the memo/comments line.
The students you nominate should be able to match pitch, come prepared with a basic knowledge of their part, and be ready to work hard. Practice tracks for the music and music packets will be provided to you for your students.
The repertoire will be SATB, so balanced quartets are ideal. If that is not possible however, we are willing to work with whomever you send. We trust your judgment!
